About Us
In 1992, we produced the first brass bodies, resonators, and other metal parts for resophonic guitars, which were then assembled in Germany under the Continental brand. From the very beginning, we have prided ourselves on our honest metalworking craftsmanship and on ensuring that each part has the precise shape, correct rigidity, and, above all, sound potential – it is the metal parts that are key to the tone, volume, and color of resonator instruments.
In 1996, we built our first complete resophonic guitars. These were two "Style OC" guitars with the Amistar logo – a brand that later became known among players thanks to the high-quality instruments manufactured in the Czech Republic. Over the years, we have continuously improved the design and details, tested various combinations of materials, settings, and adjustments, and gradually came up with our own sound system for resophonic guitars – the Duotone System.
Today, we build high-quality, proven resophonic guitars under the Leewald Resophonic guitars brand. We are continuing with the models we previously made for Amistar, while also introducing new instruments, shapes, and designs – from brass to wooden variants, always with an emphasis on reliability, detail, and consistent results. We use our own handcrafted components (including resonators), and each instrument undergoes careful assembly and final adjustment so that it is ready to play from day one.
We treat each guitar as a personal order – you choose the instrument according to your style and requirements, and we fine-tune the details with you individually. For selected models, we also offer customizations upon request, such as hand engraving (name, nickname, etc.). You can find us in Hostivice near Prague, where our instruments are created from the first metal part to the final tuning and adjustment.
